Garrant Consulting was created by Bryan Garrant almost two decades ago, and it is still going strong.

For almost two decades, I have been building websites for small business owners. Let me start off by saying this was not my first career choice. Originally, I thought I was going to travel the world and manage Five Star resorts as a Hospitality Manager. After about 10 years in the hotel business, I like many others burned out.

I had always had a passion for computers and wanted to make a business out of it. I started playing around with FrontPage a few months before landing my first client, and almost instantly fell in love. The way you could just take a design idea and represent a business with it on a screen was amazing. I knew this was an upcoming business opportunity as very few web design freelancers or companies even existed back in the year 2000. So I decided to take the leap and try to get a few clients on the side while still working full-time in hospitality.

Well it did not take long to have my first five client projects lined up. The demand was high and almost no businesses in my region had a website yet. You could pretty much pick and choose any business and almost all of them wanted a website.

After landing that fifth client, I decided it was time to take a chance and go out of my own. I left the hospitality industry and went full-time into the web design business.

The first ten years or so were amazing. Business demand was high and clients were plentiful. Soon after that I started seeing some website building tools gaining popularity such as Squarespace and a few others. I knew I had to adapt or I would get lost like so many other web design startups, so I decided to spread out my work region radius a bit more.

Soon after expanding my work region radius, I realized it was not about how many clients you have. It was about caring for clients and providing amazing service. The only way to do this is to listen to what my clients wanted, make a plan, and execute that plan with outstanding service. The best way to get more business is from the clients you already have in the form of referrals or repeat business.

By providing amazing service and showing my clients that I care about them and their business, I have been able to grow my company to what it is today.
